JOB SUMMARY:

The President is responsible for the success and direction of strategies, budgets, personnel hiring and administration of all operations of St. George Tanaq Corporation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Guide the overall goals and direction of Tanaq according to the strategic plan and shareholder expectations.
  2. Establish a working relationship with the Board of Directors in order to accomplish specific goals established by board and management.
  3. Conduct an ongoing needs assessment for all phases of operations and development activities regarding Tanaq lands on St. George Island and elsewhere.
  4. Assess the profitability of Tanaq’s holdings and investments in a timely manner and evaluate new holdings and investment opportunities and proposals that result from the strategic plan.
  5. Negotiate material contracts and other agreements on behalf of Tanaq, subject to approval of the Board of Directors, and its appropriate subsidiaries when necessary.
  6. Make regular quarterly reports to the Board on activities and progress of projects and programs, and file reports required by law.
  7. Assist, advise, and act for the Board in the following: supervise accounting, payroll, disbursements; administer contracts and leases; authorize purchases and payment of same; sign checks, notes, drafts, and contracts for payment; and prepare and submit annual budgets.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The President shall have the authority to delegate any of the above to appropriate staff members and shall perform other duties the Board of Directors from time to time prescribe.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  1. Must be of excellent moral character.
  2. Must have excellent organizational skills.
  3. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  4. Must be able to travel on occasion in the furtherance of goodwill activities.
  5. Must speak effectively before large or small groups.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Four (4) years' experience minimum in business (or non-profit) operations and management, preferably involving rural Alaska affairs and/or industries. University or college course completion strongly desired.
  2. Working knowledge of various business computer software programs.
  3. Must be able to pass a job reference and criminal background check, as well as a financial credit check.

Preference will be given to shareholders and descendants of the Tanaq Corporation and Alaska  Natives in accordance with Title 43 U.S. Code 1626(g) and Title 42 U.S. Code 2000e – 2(i).
